Born in California, Lassen was always deeply interested in the wonders of nature, but his imagination was fired by the tropical splendor of Hawaii when his family moved to Maui when he was 11. His paintings reflect impressionism, absolute realism and a style uniquely his own which he describes as "Illusionary Realism."
A child of the Earth's waters, a native son forever playing in the ocean's waves, a gifted messenger carrying an eternal vision, who else would have the imagination to see the planet as it was and as it might become, but renowned artist, Christian Riese Lassen.
